You pay a discounted flat rate once you exceed your monthly allowance.
For example, let's say you have a pro plan, which gives you 100 credits, and in your first billing period you upload 110 photos. The first 100 photos are covered by your plan, and you will be charged an extra 10 x $0.5 = $5 at the end of your first billing period.
